ABOUT SIGMA LAMBDA…

Kappa Delta was founded in October 1897 at State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Virginia. When creating Kappa Delta, our founders set out to create a sisterhood where each woman could grow into the best version of herself by instilling learning, integrity, service and friendship into each Kappa Delta member.

Today, Kappa Delta has 168 collegiate chapters, 200+ alumnae chapters, and 290,000+ initiated members. Kappa Delta sorority provides experiences that build confidence in women and inspire them to action through the power of lifelong friendship.

Kappa Delta, Sigma Lambda chapter, became the first sorority on Auburn’s campus in 1922. Now, over a century later, Auburn Kappa Delta continues to abide by the mission of encouraging members to live with integrity and honor in the bonds of lifelong friendship; building confidence in members to excel in college and throughout their lives; inspiring members to be active leaders, responsible citizens and engaged members of the community; and providing opportunities and experiences that foster personal growth for a lifetime.

Through National Kappa Delta, Auburn Kappa Delta chapter members have established a scholarship for their own sisters. This scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a member of the Sigma Lambda Chapter with a minimum 2.7 GPA who is a rising sophomore, junior or senior.

Also, the chapter was instrumental in establishing the Sigma Lambda Kappa Delta Acquisition Endowment at the Jules Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University.
